Farnell is a trading name of Premier Farnell, a distributor of electronic components. It was once a significant manufacturer of electronic laboratory and bench equipment, through its subsidiary Farnell Technology but divested itself of manufacturing in 1995. The company was founded in 1939 in Wetherby, West Yorkshire, next to the Wetherby York Road railway station, as the company grew it moved into larger premesis on the towns Sandbeck Industrial Estate, these were to close in 1995, leaving the company's Armley branch to take over as effective headquarters.
